Types of MEPCO Wiring Complaints
MEPCO is responsible for all electricity infrastructure up to and including your meter. Complaints can be filed for:
- Damaged or sagging service cables (from pole to your premises)
- Exposed or dangerous wiring on electricity poles
- Broken or leaning electricity poles
- Transformer faults or damage
- Overhead wire touching trees or buildings (fire hazard)
- Sparking or arcing from cables or connections
- Missing earthing on electricity poles
Emergency vs Non-Emergency Wiring Complaints
Emergency (call 118 immediately):
- Live wire touching the ground or people
- Sparking or fire near electricity infrastructure
- Broken pole creating immediate danger
- Flooding of transformer area
Non-Emergency (file complaint):
- Sagging service cable
- Damaged but non-dangerous cable insulation
- Non-functional street light
How to File a MEPCO Wiring Complaint
For Emergencies:
- Call 118 immediately — available 24/7
- Describe the exact location and nature of the emergency
- Keep people away from the danger area until MEPCO arrives
For Non-Emergency Issues:
- Call 118 and describe the wiring problem
- Or visit your MEPCO Sub-Division office
- Provide the exact location (pole number if visible, nearest landmark)
- Take photos as evidence if possible
- Note your complaint number for tracking

- MEPCO is responsible for: Cables and poles up to your meter, transformers, service connections
- You are responsible for: Internal wiring inside your property after the meter

- Call 118 and quote your complaint number for status update
