MEPCO Electricity Per Unit Rate 2026 – All Slabs Explained

MEPCO Electricity Per Unit Rate 2026

MEPCO charges electricity on a slab-based tariff system approved by NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority). The rate per unit (kWh) increases as your monthly consumption increases. Understanding these rates helps you estimate your bill and manage your electricity usage.

MEPCO Domestic Tariff (A-1a) – Per Unit Rates 2026

Protected Consumers (0–200 Units)

  • 1–50 units: Rs. 3.95 per unit | Fixed Charge: Rs. 75
  • 1–100 units: Rs. 7.74 per unit | Fixed Charge: Rs. 150
  • 101–200 units: Rs. 10.06 per unit | Fixed Charge: Rs. 150

Non-Protected Consumers (Above 200 Units)

  • 201–300 units: Rs. 17.40 per unit
  • 301–400 units: Rs. 20.46 per unit
  • 401–500 units: Rs. 22.65 per unit
  • 501–600 units: Rs. 25.09 per unit
  • 601–700 units: Rs. 27.54 per unit
  • 701+ units: Rs. 30.00 per unit

What is the Slab System?

In a slab system, all your monthly units are charged at the rate of the slab your total consumption falls into. If you consume 250 units, all 250 units are charged at Rs. 17.40 — not just the units above 200. This is why crossing 200 units causes a large jump in your bill.

Additional Charges Added to Base Rate

  • GST 18% on total energy charges
  • Electricity Duty 1.5%
  • Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) — varies monthly
  • FC Surcharge per unit
  • TV Fee: Rs. 35 fixed

A: You likely crossed the 200-unit boundary, moving from Protected to Non-Protected category — causing a large rate increase on all units.

Q: Is the slab rate applied to all units or just extra units?

A: The slab rate applies to all units consumed that month, not just the units above the threshold.
