How to Report Electricity Theft to MEPCO

Why Reporting Electricity Theft Matters

Electricity theft is a major problem in Pakistan and directly contributes to high electricity tariffs for honest consumers. When electricity is stolen, the cost is distributed among all paying consumers through higher bills. Reporting theft helps reduce your own bill in the long run.

Signs of Electricity Theft Near You

  • Wires directly tapped from the main pole without going through a meter
  • Meters with tampering signs (broken seals, reversed meters, magnets attached)
  • Power supply to a property that appears unoccupied
  • Unusually bright lighting in a property where no bills are paid
  • Cables running from a transformer directly to a building
